With more than 100,000 interments, this federal cemetery is the final resting place for those who defended our nation. To commemorate Veterans Day, help Archaeology Now clean headstones that have been weathered by time. Perhaps, you have a loved one who served in the military buried here. Consider this your opportunity to honor their memory and others who served.
Archaeology Now returns to Salem Lutheran Cemetery, where we held a successful workday cleaning and brightening headstones last year. Several German immigrants who settled in the Rosehill community in the 1840s and their descendants are buried here. In many cases, these headstones preserve the only known information about an individual.
In small groups, we will help recover grave site information and transform headstones by removing decades of pollutants, while also documenting the stories of those buried.
