“Guardians of the Sunda Strait: The World War II loss of HMAS Perth and the USS Houston,” the historical exhibition created by the Australian National Maritime Museum to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Sunda Strait, premieres at the Julia Ideson Building, Houston Public Library. The exhibition, comprised of 55 artifacts, documents, and photographs, tells the dramatic story of the heroic fight of the sister ships against a massive Japanese naval force, and the subsequent internment of the survivors in POW camps.
